Family Housing   

Social Housing:

Rent Determination:

- Rents are calculated based on a households' combined gross monthly income.

- Rent is 30% of adjusted household income*, which is consistent with the CMHC National Affordability Standard for housing. 

* Adjusted income refers to the exclusion of government benefits such as Child Tax Benefit.

Eligibility:

- A household must have at least one dependent child, a satisfactory rental history, and incomes and assets below limits.

- Income limits in relation to the number of bedrooms required are listed below:

1 bedroom < $36,500/year

2 bedroom < $43,500/year

3 bedroom < $55,000/year

4 bedroom < $66,500/year

- Asset Limits for a family is $50,000

Other: Security deposits are required, and depending on the property, there may be additional costs such as utilities and parking.

Senior Housing

Social Housing:

Rent Determination:

- Rent is calculated at 30% of monthly adjusted household income*, which is consistent with the CMHC National Affordability Standard for housing. 

* Adjusted income refers to the exclusion of government benefits such as Seniors Income Plan.

Eligibility:

- Designed for low income adults, age 60+

- Maximum income limit is $42,000.  Assets must not exceed $250,000.

- Priority is given to applicants with greatest need based on income, current shelter costs, current housing conditions, health problems aggravated by current housing conditions and/or current housing unsuitable because of a disability.

Other: Security deposits are required, and depending on the property, there may be additional costs such as utilities and parking.

Life-Lease: 

 

- Designed for moderate income adults, age 60+.

- This program offers security of tenure similar to home-ownership but without the responsibilities of maintenance and upkeep.

- Priority and placement is given to approved applicants with the greatest need based on current housing conditions, current shelter costs and income.

- Maximum income limit for singles is $46,600 and couples is $56,400.

- Assets must not exceed $375,000.

- Prices start at $93,300 and can increase depending on the size of the suite.  The Life-Interest Lease purchase price is fully refundable – less damages – within 90 days of notice to vacate.

Accessible Housing
